Abstract:
In this research, the researcher study about video games translation. The Source Language (SL) is English and Target Language (TL) is Indonesian in video game published by MiHoYo entitled Genshin Impact. The aim of this research is to find out the translation technique used in Genshin Impact voice-over text, and to determine the type of meaning in the translation. The researcher using Molina and Albir’s technique to analyze the translation technique, and using Nida and Taber’s technique to analyze the meaning. This research uses a qualitative method that focused to the text. The researcher obtains the data through several steps: first is to play the game, second is to open the character profile and select for voice-over, third is to put the data sample in English and Indonesian, and last step is to analyze both of the data. In analyzing data, the researcher using the translation technique and type of meaning as a coding to generate a general understanding about the analysis. The results of this research are: 1) there are 13 techniques from 18 techniques used in translating Genshin Impact voice-over text. Based on 96 data, the most used translation technique is literal translation by 26 data; 2) the most found type of meaning in this research is denotative meaning by 90 data from 96 data.
