Abstract:
The purposes of this research are to know how the characterization of the main characters and to know how patience, love and faith can influence the main characters’ way to face and solve the conflicts in Love Comes Softly novel series written by Janette Oke. The objects of the research are the main characters, Clark and Marty Davis, as the focus of thestudy. External and internal conflicts of the main characters; and how patience, love and faith can influence the main characters’ way to face and solve the conflicts become the limitation of the research. In analyzing the identification of problems, thisresearch employs the psychoanalysis approach from Sigmund Freud. The theory applied that the superego represents the influence of others, such as: parents, teacher and role model as good as the impact of racial, societal and cultural traditions. The research attempts to give evidence about how the feeling such as patience, love and faith can influence the main characters’ way to face and solve the problem. Based on the story in the novel series of Love Comes Softly and based on the analysis, the result proves that patience, love and faith can influence how the main characters’ faced and solved the conflicts in their life.
